What motivated you to run as an independent candidate for the South Granville Ward in the Cumberland Council election?

My motivation stems from a deep commitment to improving our community. Over the years, I’ve seen the positive impact that dedicated community service and public health initiatives can have. I want to leverage my experience and passion to address local issues and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

What steps will you take to foster stronger community engagement and involvement?

I believe in the power of active community participation and accessibility. As a local pharmacist, the community knows they can easily find me. I support this belief through organizing regular town hall meetings, creating platforms for residents to voice their concerns, and collaborating with local organizations to develop programs that directly address community needs. Transparency and open communication are fundamental to building trust and fostering engagement.

Can you share an example of your leadership in a community project?

I bring a wealth of experience in leadership and management roles, including 5 years as a board member at a school and another 5 years on the board of a youth organization. Moreover, I have over a decade of proven success in running and managing various pharmacies.

One standout example of my leadership is my role in optimizing pharmacy operations. Throughout my career, I’ve implemented strategies that enhanced efficiency, elevated customer satisfaction, and bolstered profitability. My tenure as a board member has further honed my ability to collaborate effectively and make impactful decisions in organizational settings.

How do you plan to actively contribute to the governing body if elected?

I am committed to being an engaged and effective member of the council. This means attending all council meetings, participating actively in discussions, and collaborating with fellow council members to achieve our shared goals. I will also take an active role in committees and working groups, ensuring that I contribute meaningfully to the decision-making processes and policy development.

What steps will you take to ensure that your decisions are well-informed and in the best interests of the community?

I will ensure all decisions are thoughtful, well-researched, and consider the best interests of the community. This involves consulting with experts, gathering data, and seeking input from residents and stakeholders. I will stay informed about current issues and trends affecting our community and be open to diverse perspectives to make balanced and informed decisions.

How will you participate in the development of the Integrated Planning and Reporting framework?

I will actively participate in creating and improving the strategic plans that guide our community’s future. This includes collaborating with council members, staff, and the community to develop comprehensive plans that address our long-term needs. I will focus on aligning these plans with our community’s values and priorities, ensuring that they are realistic, achievable, and beneficial to all residents.

How will you represent the interests of residents, ratepayers, and the local community?

I will advocate for the needs and concerns of residents, ratepayers, and the broader local community. This means being accessible and approachable, listening to the community’s concerns, and acting as a voice for their interests at council meetings. I will work to ensure that all community members feel heard and valued, and I will strive to address their issues and improve their quality of life.

What methods will you use to facilitate communication between the community and the council?

I will serve as a bridge between the community and the council, ensuring open and transparent communication. This will involve regular town hall meetings, community forums, and online engagement platforms where residents can share their views and receive updates on council activities. I will also use newsletters, social media, and other channels to keep the community informed and involved in the decision-making process.

How do you plan to maintain and enhance your skills as a councillor?

I will continuously strive to acquire and enhance the skills required to effectively fulfill the role of a councillor. This includes participating in training programs, workshops, and seminars relevant to local government and community leadership. I will seek mentorship and advice from experienced councillors and stay updated on best practices and innovative solutions to better serve our community.
